National Lottery Award

The
National Lottery Community
Fund has
granted
£20,000 to Coychurch Lower
Community Council towards the cost of adding
outdoor callisthenics equipment to the Coychurch Community Field. Please see the National Lottery Award 2026 press release for a pictorial representation of the new equipment and location.
Over the last 10 years the community field on Coychurch Road has been used for training by a local football club and by dog walkers from the Coychurch and Brackla areas. It has been a very underused resource and the ambition of Coychurch Lower Community Council, on behalf of the residents of Coychurch Lower, is to enhance the site’s appeal to encourage a wider range of people of all ages and abilities to spend time outdoors.
So far, Bridgend CBC’s Local Places for Nature team have added an all-weather path, wildflower and tree planting and drainage improvements to relieve the surface run-off that has flooded neighbouring properties in the past. This has resulted in an increase in the number of people using the field during the daytime and summer evenings.
By making this fitness equipment available to all, we will be helping people who want to keep fit without the cost of a gym membership. The 363m all-weather path provides the opportunity to warm up/cool down with a short run/jog around the field.
