Public Consultation

Published: 03 October 2022

During the weekend of 8th October the council will be distributing paper questionnaires to obtain your views about the recommended development of the Coychurch Playing Field and Pavilion and the Williams Memorial Hall.

PLAYING FIELD AND PAVILION CONSULTATION is for you to consider the proposal for developing the field. Agreement to and support for the proposal will enable the community council to progress the Capital Asset Transfer with Bridgend County Borough Council and to apply for funding for the field improvements and the renovation of the pavilion.

The development of the field will take several years as funding will have to be acquired at each stage so the plan has 4 phases -

Phase 1 - Spring / Summer 2023. Manage / maintain grass areas. Plant extra trees and wildflowers and create natural habitats in line with Welsh Government bio-diversity targets and achieve ‘Green Flag’ park status. Provide picnic tables. Much of this development will be in partnerships with BCBC's Local Places for Nature project..

Phase 2 - Winter 2023: Manage, renovate and transform the existing derelict pavilion into a usable building. Externally funded.

Phase 3 – Summer 2024: Install 150m running track, walking/jogging track and outdoor gym equipment. Externally funded in conjunction with partners.

Phase 4 – Winter 2024: Construction of the layby / entrance and parking (depending on the result of a feasibility study and Highways department approval). Externally funded.

WILLIAMS MEMORIAL HALL RENOVATION CONSULTATION is seeking your approval for the reduced plan for upgrading the building in order to make it safe, dry, comfortable and accessible to all. In order to apply to the Lottery for a second time we need your support so we can show that the community is behind the project to improve the building.  Please complete the short questionnaire and return it the the Hall by email to clerk@coychurchlower-cc.org.uk or post it through the letterbox at the Hall.

Please watch out for the paper copy through your letterbox this week. You can also read the Public Consultation Document
