PARTY IN THE PARK - 18 JUNE 2022

After all of the months of planning by a small group of villagers and the primary school PTA the day arrived.

The weather was against us but the volunteers turned out to set up the marquees, gazebos, stage, arena, generators and stalls. Thanks to Brackla Community Council for the loan of their generator and their dustbins which made clearing up easier. Thanks also are due to the local businesses who supported the event with donations and to Daz for his generator.

Those more hardy crafters turned up n their vans and set out their stalls - from coffee to cakes to mugs and the White Horse "beer tent."

The Primary School and the PTA, the Women's Institute, the 50-Plus Coffee Morning group and the Coychurch Gardening Society braved the rain to walk their wares to stalls under cover in the middle of the playing field.

Although some of the demonstrations were called off because to the weather there were gaps between the showers and The Vale Archery Cub and the Latin American line dance group demos went ahead. We were also well entertained by Gareth Peebles who sang and acted as a DJ providing background music throughout the afternoon.

The people in the parade set off from the school and arrived at the playing field rather wet but cheerful and others joined them as the weather eased during the afternoon. Those who came were equipped with umbrellas and weatherproofs and there were lots of smiles around.

Thank you all for supporting the "Party in the Park", in whatever capacity.
